PrincipaFs Message I960 ushers in a new decade filled with great promise in the fields of scientific and industrial growth. It could mean we are in for the highest standard of living ever achieved by men. or it may mean we could destroy ourselves, either by use of weapons or by decay of the moral, spiritual, and physical virtues. Scientific achievement seems to be outstripping man's ability to cope with it. Our 1960 graduates will be caught in this dilemaand their efforts will have to be turned to the social advancements if they are going to continue to enjoy the bountiful freedoms offered by our great nation. There are some great thinkers who feel we are rapidly becoming a bread and circus nation. If this is true our decline and fall is as certain as was that of the Roman Empire. The 1960 graduating class and all classes must meet this challenge by work, sacrifice, confidence and independence. They must recognize the right and strength of an individual and fight to keep the individual a free and dynamic being. Graduates of 1960 I am certain you will meet the challenge before you and with the help of God you will prosper, succeed and find happiness. I wish you well. Mr. David McDowell leaves the halls of Com- stock, following the completion of this school year. For his help and cooperation, we of the Corral Staff thank him and we are joined by the entire student body in wishing him well.
