WE, THE SENIOR CLASS, OF COMSTOCK HIGH SCHOOL C OMST OCK, MICHIGAN PRESENT THE Those who follow us are breaking a trail into a new tomorrow. It is our hope that the trail we have broken proves true and useful . It is our prayer that the great highway will lead through time to God's eternity. We invite you to journey with us through our year- book and see how we at CHS acquire our wisdom. In appreciation, we, the class of 1956, dedicate this annual to Mrs. Betty Sheldon, who helped us in our youth to realize what lay ahead in the years to come. She will long be remembered by us as a friend as well as a teacher. We all know she loved her work because of her sincere interest in each individual. She has seen many of us come and go as the years have gone by; and, you might say, She has seen the harvest. To you, Mrs. Sheldon, we present this annual. Editor, FOR THOU HAS TAUGHT ME WISDOM . . . 2 SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE I sincerely hope that your past four years of attendance at Comstock High School have provided you a rich experi- ence, and an adequate preparation for years ahead. I trust that you now have a clear vision or picture of ex- actly what you want most to do, or to accomplish in life; a confidence that you can and will succeed in doing it; and the determination how to do it and keep at it, for He who only plans is a dreamer; he who only works is a drudge; but he who plans and works his plan, is a conqueror. To all the members of this fine class, I wish to express my deepest desire for your continued success. PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE To the graduating class of 1956: Let us always remember that educa- tion is a continuous process. It be- gins the day we are born, and ceases only when we die. The years you have spent in formal education here have given you some of the fundamental skills, attitudes and tools so necessary for successful ad- justment in a rapidly changing world. Utilize them. Continue this process of education so that you will be able to contribute in a positive way to the social structure of our community, state, and nation. Best of wishes to all of you. The influence of Patrol members extends far beyond the intersection at which they are on duty. Proof of this value is found in thousands of communities having patrols, many of which report large decreases in the total number of accidents to the children. In a real sense, the lives of his classmates depend on the patrol member's acceptance of his responsibility. The need for punctuality and strict attention to duty is influenced upon him. Hence, membership on a patrol helps to develop attention to duty, alertness, dependabil- ity, qualities of leadership, and a sense of social obligation-----qual- ities much needed in a citizen of a democracy.
