The class extends wishes for his continued success in guiding and advising students at Comstock High School. 4 ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY s u p E R I N T WILLIARD DE JONGE Superintendent of Schools A. B., Hope College M. A., Univ. of Michigan SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE To the Seniors of Comstock High School: I will study and prepare myself. Someday my chance will come. - Lincoln Lincoln failed many,- many times, but he never failed to keep trying. He was certain that someday his chance would come. His opportunities for a formal education were very limited, but he did possess six or seven books, these he mastered, reading and studying them again and again. And these books became the basis or foundation upon which a great character was built. May you, as seniors, accept each opportunity given you to serve and build a greater America. It is my hope that you will ever be challenged to do bigger and better things in life. No one knows the greatness which lies within you. Nor will you know unless some great purpose - some sense of destiny - gives you the urge to keep everlastingly trying. May we, of Comstock Public Schools, do our part in challenging you to meet the challenges of a changing world successfully. 6 PRINCIPAL The Seniors wish to express sincere gratitude to our principal and friend, Mr. Young. He has been very heIpf ul-during our high school career in leading us toward our final goal of graduation. We know he has always had a personal interest in each of us. SECRETARIES Left to Right: June Ward, Kay Bont, Mrs. Miller 7 BOARD of EDUCATION LEFT TO RIGHT Williard De Jonge, Superintendent of Schools Reed A. Me Vay, Trustee Thomas Boven, Treasurer Carl Wilcox, Trustee Arthur R. Middleton, President Vern Norwood, Secretary We would like to thank the school board for sacrificing their time and their un- tiring efforts in providing adequate school facilities for the students who attend Comstock . These five men - seldom seen or heard around school - are the ones who select and produce the policies which provide a better education for our students. This group was helped to make our school life a memorable and a happy experience. 8 CUSTODIANS Left to Right: Mrs. Garrison, Mr. Eager, Mr. Sandell, Mr. Michaels, Mr. Bunting If it wasn't for our patient and helpful custodians, our school couldn't be the clean spotless one it is. Always friendly and ready with a smile, the custodians are respected and liked by all. 9 ROBERT JONES Mathematics Ninth Gr. Sponsor HARVEY LAMAN Industrial Arts Tenth Gr. C. There were 239 members in the Comstock Cooperative Club this year, headed by the following officers: Jack Smith, President; Randy Miller, Vice- president; Jean Hoke, Treasurer; Don Smeltzer, Athletic Treasurer; June Ward, Secretary; and Mr. Young, Faculty Advisor. Because raffles and bingo were outlawed, the C. C. Club did not sponsor a School Carnival this year. The Club bought 18 Christmas trees for the lower grades for their Christ- mas parties. The High School Christmas party was held on December 23, from seven until eleven and was sponsored by the Club.
