There are only fifteen children in our room now. Douglas left our group after Christmas and moved to Fargo. The third grade spent a part of each morning with us having their Arithmetic class and seat work period in our room. Besides our regular class work we had parties at Hallowe'en, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. Each of us took part in the Christmas pageant Hwhen Christmas Comes.H Most of us have hobbies, so to share them with our classmates we organized a Hobby Club. We elected officers each month, so we could all have a chance to conduct meetings and carry on the duties of officers in an organization. We were lucky this year to get new text books for Reading, Arithmetic, and History. Several library books were added to our reading enjoyment. The ones we liked most were old favorites revised into the vocabulary we use, namely, HTom Sawyern and HTreasure Islandn. Many of the Intermediate children made good use of the Clay County Bookmobile which made regular stops in our community. 17

PRIMARY GRADE ROOM NEWS vxvxxxxmxrmxxmxmxvxwxxm Since the boys are outnumbered by girls, they must really behave this year. We are sixteen girls and only nine boys. This school year seems to be going very fast. Guess it's because we're so busy and there are so many activities. We have had many birthday parties and a party for each holiday. We participated in the Christmas pageant given by the elementary grades and high school chorus for the December P.T.A. meeting. The hot lunches at noon are just as good as ever. Our appetites are getting bigger and we really Ngon for the Hsecondsn. Sometimes the cooks surprise us and send up an afternoon lunch. Needless to say that we enjoy surprises like that! We have received some new reading and health books for our reading table. The Clay County Bookmobile has visited our school and we all enjoyed the books it brought. Once a week, on Tuesdays, we go to church for our religious instruction. Last spring some of the third grade boys built a library and two cute little chairs for our nCozy Cornern. This fall we painted them all red and made cushions for the chairs. We are so thankful to Gerald P., Harvey, Walter and Harold. They are really the good Comstock carpenters. ' We are so proud of our new bleachers and have tried to keep them looking nice. The girls are waiting for spring and HDolly Dayn. But of course we can't bring our dollies until the weather gets warm. We have lots of fun on that day because we play house and pretend we're grown up. Last spring Emmy Lou was judged the best little mother. No one has had to wear the HGossip Gownn in our room yet this year. We don't care to wear it either because it is a horrible thing all black, with ragged fringes along the bottom!!! '-' CUTE SAYINGS xxxxxsxxmsxx Mrs. B. Cin phonics class! Can you name some words that have the ish family in them? Donald D. wish, fish, dish, and ish the UPPER GRADES f xxxmxxxxxxxx Grades six, seven and eight have an enrollment of nineteen, with five girls and fourteen boys. We have four pupils in the sixth grade, eight in the seventh grade and seven in the eighth grade. We have a Young Citizens Club with the following officers: President, Sybil Gunderson, Vice-President, Paul Montplaisir, Secretary, Orland Bye, and Treasurer, James Nugent. Our club's motto is: WTO Every Man There Openeth A Highway And A Low, And Every Man Decideth The Way His Soul Shall Go.H 19
