We were seated alphabetically in the large assembly. The Sophomores welcomed us by giving us an initiation party-in October. They gave us caramels which re- ally were delicious-especially after having been soaked in liniment. Several of us were dressed as comic-strip or story book characters. Next year we'll truly enjoy being mean to someone else. We gave our Freshmen return party on December 7. We played games and had hot dogs and pop for lunch. We enjoyed this party more than the one the Sophomores gave us. We elected class officers as follows: President - Patty Asleson Vice-President - Robert Brandt Secretary - Vivian Melby Treasurer - Lowell Olson Student Council Representative - Alice Quiggle Advisor - Mr. Olson 15

There are only fifteen children in our room now. Douglas left our group after Christmas and moved to Fargo. The third grade spent a part of each morning with us having their Arithmetic class and seat work period in our room. Besides our regular class work we had parties at Hallowe'en, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. Each of us took part in the Christmas pageant Hwhen Christmas Comes.H Most of us have hobbies, so to share them with our classmates we organized a Hobby Club. We elected officers each month, so we could all have a chance to conduct meetings and carry on the duties of officers in an organization. We were lucky this year to get new text books for Reading, Arithmetic, and History. Several library books were added to our reading enjoyment. The ones we liked most were old favorites revised into the vocabulary we use, namely, HTom Sawyern and HTreasure Islandn. Many of the Intermediate children made good use of the Clay County Bookmobile which made regular stops in our community. 17
