mom THE CAPTAINS This cruise has afforded me a twofold pleasure. Not only did I have the op- portunity to renew acquaintance with the fine people of Guantanamo, where I had served previously, but, in addition, I had the proud pleasure of returning to Guantanamo with a clean ship and a crew eager and ready to do their best. The work was hard, the hours long, but none were found wanting. I am extreme- ly proud of the job you 'have done an-d. the several fine compliments we received from senior officers there. This cruise book then is not only a reminder of fond memories and ex- periences shared by us, but also a tribute to the hard work, fine spirit and en- thusiasm of each of you. WELL DONE! May we continue to excel and be al- ways ready, exemplifying Power for Peace. J. N. Casseday . As Select Reserve Crew Commanding Officer, Refresher Training at Guan- tanamo gave me the opportunity to see the crew working together for the common goal of successful completion of all required exercises. The hard work and en- thusiasm of all hands also allowed us to complete additional exercises. During Refresher- Training we all learned and rehearsed the practical skills we would need in an -emergency and, in addition, we were reminded of the importance of teamwork. We know each other and the ship better then we did before the cruise. Our future training will be only as successful as our determina- tion and teamwork. To all hands, well done! Let us look forward to other cruises in which we shall improve the readiness we 'have obtained on this cruise. William Murphy, Jr.
