He received his Bachelor of Science Degree and Masters Degree from Texas Christian University. lVlr. Davis is a former Teacher-Coach at lVlonnig, and served as teacher, counselor and basketball coach at Western Hills High School for two of his ten years in the system. He joined the Como family for the first time this year and has served well in his present capacity. Buddy L. Mr. Byrd has a great deal of school pride and spirit, and has, through his dedication to the welfare of our youth, earned the friendship and respect of the stu- dents and faculty at Como. GREETINGS! On behalf of the entire Como Junior-Senior High School Family, l bring greetings to you . . . our parents, alumni and friends. The yearbook staff has appropriately chosen the theme, PRELUDE TO A FINALE, as this marks the final year of this school as COMO JUNIOR-SENIOR HIGH. However, l would like to add a sub-theme, PRELUDE TO PROGRESS. . .as this is not the end, but the beginning . . . the beginning of COMO MIDDLE SCHOOL. Realistically, nothing will change as far as the parental sup- port, goodwill and general attitude of the community toward the school. As a middle school, we still need, and WANT the wonderful cooperation that you, our parents, friends and alumni have so willingly given us in the past. The doors of COMO MIDDLE SCHOOL, as were the doors of COMO JUNIOR-SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, will always be open to YOU. COMO JUNIOR-SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL has had a short, memorable and glorious history. Our graduates have repre- sented us well in their various fields of endeavor. Mrs. Rolnneii Young Nlrs. Spates, a native of Itasca, Texas, is a veteran teacher and former Dean of Girls. She received her B.S. Degree and lVI.S. Degree, and Administrative Certificate from Prairie View A8clVl College. She has done advance studies at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. lVlrs.
