H 'f,, 'r-izzrs SENIOR HISTORY One rainy morning in 1934, sixteen very scared but hopeful children started their school careers in Nevada. Only three pupils from the original class--Jimmie Coker, Betty Webb, and Lula Smithf- chose to remain here to finish their quest for knowledge. In the second grade we lost a number of our class and also gained a few. While we were in the second grade one of our classmates, Lila Vaughan, died. Gilbert Criswell, Alvie Hay Julian, Howard Cook, and Cecil Dowell deserted us in the third grade. Even when we were small, we drove the men away. In the fourth grade we lost Barbara Caldwell, Barbara Smith, and Myra Houser. We gained Gerald Howard as a fifth grader and lost Raymond Butts, Dorothy Jean Smith, Mary Ruth Kraft, and Wendell Compton. The sixth grade year was indeed a lucky year for us, for in this year we gained Mary Ross, who is still with us. Our graduation from Grammar school was a great moment in the lives of us all. Just after graduation Evie Buckeley, Rosalea Cunningham, and Onella Wilkerson left our class. Our grammar school teachers were Mrs. Hartman, Miss Combs, Miss Lamm, and Mr. Huse. We proved our dramatic ability in the production of three plays during our 5th, 6th, and 7th grade days. We presented UBa, Ba, Black Sheepn, nThe Haunted Tea Roomn, and NWhere's Grandma?N When we entered high school we were sure that we were about the smartest ones around. Our first report cards disillusionaius, however. During our freshmen year the rest of our men, Gerald, Wash Pool, and Evans Watkins deserted us. ' Five lonely girls began the Sophomore year. We were soon joined by another girl, Bulah Mae Blankenship. Our Sophomore year passed without too much excitement. We were sure that we were very brilliant and unusual. One member of our Betty Webb, was elected captain of the basketball team during this year,, which was a great achievement. , Wanda Dodson, James Killian, Thedalua Moore, and Nancy Webb came to N. H. S. as Juniors. There were many exciting happenings for us as Juniors. We presented the play UDon't be Bashfuln, which was successful due to the assistance given by the Sophomore boys. The Junior-Senior banquet climaxed our year. Much effort was put forth to make the banquet a success and we felt that we were re- warded for all our labors. To our sponsor, Mrs. Kilpatrick, we owe much of our success in our Junior activities. At last we have reached our Senior year. We began the year with eight seniors--James Killian, Betty Webb, Jimmie Coker, Lula
