Chess Club ThefChess Club has twenty members and is co-sponsored by Mr. Sanguinetti and Mr. Spear. C-lub meetings are held once a month and highly competitive games are en- joyed by the club sponsors as well as the members. Chess tourna- ments are held. Honor Honor S members meet together once a month during school hours when guest speakers from many different lands share their experiences' with them. Speech Club The Speech Club is made up of eighth and ninth grade speech students with an A average in the subject. We have been most busy this year, starting off with spots in assemblies and a program for PTA. Also, we entertained the Business and Professional Women and the Toastmasters' Club. Our first contest was sponsored by California Trial Lawyers' Assn. and the subject was: The Judicial System and Its Impact Upon the American Scene Today. Two weeks later our Annual After-Dinner Speaking Contest was held at Minnie's. The next month came our Original Oratory Contest. We finished the year with a contest in Dramatic Interpretation and then -Programmed Reading. The eighthigrade members had two contests - Humorous Interpretation and Programmed Reading. In the meantime, when we were not busy working, Various speakers from the community and high school and college contestants were our guests. It was a very good year and We are looking forward to another one with the class of '74, J-'41 I The WINNERS !
