SIYYSCIQAIDEIQ FOOTBALL The 1933 football season found Commercial with a green but willing hunch of fellows eager for action. Despite inadequate equipment and no place for practice. the boys worked tirelessly to bring gridiron glory to Commercial. llluch of the credit for the Typists' splendid display of sportsmanship goes to Coach R. B. Godwin, who, after a year's absence from coaching, staged a creditable come-back, and guided the team through its difficulties to an unexpected showing. The squad included Don Smith, Douglas Ivey, Howard Brenner, Jerry Paschal, ends, Russell Dodson, Harold Davis, fullbacksg Blelvin Loyd, Joe Chastain, Bill Belcher, J. T. Marler, halfbacksg Captain Horace lVIcDaniel, Joe lkfallinson, centers, Paul Giles, Terry Evans, Tom Elkins, Olin Scott, tackles, Lewis Zink, Ed Ludwig, Troy Hrewton, tackles. Harvey Warlick, Allen Turner, George Jones, and Floyd Barnes also saw action. Little lX'Iorris Parker and Doc Cwater-hoyb Ike Turner served as managers. Although Decatur romped over Commercial 30-0, the other games were close. Russell won 13-6, Rome, 13-03 Boys' High B , 6-0, LaGrange. 12-0, Nlarist, 18-63 Cartersville, 6-Og U. S. B., 25-O.
