The stories are well written and are illustrated in a very attractive fashion. The Athletic Department is very good. The Calendar QCentral High School, Buffaloj is one of the best of our con- temporaries. The stories are generally more than the commonplace space fill- ers that form a part of so many of our exchanges. The column headed Notes and Comments, contains many brief items of school news, that are undoubt- edly of great interest to the students and friends of the school. Furthermore, there is a noteworthy lack of insipid and libellous personals. The carefully se- lected jokes convince us that the editor has an appreciative sense of humor. The addition of an exchange column, how- ever, would be of decided interest. XV e cannot understand why so many of our contemporaries persist in rolling their papers up tightly, and then glueing a wrapper around the compact roll. Nearly half of our exchanges reach us in this manner, and, as a consequence, many, otherwise excellent papers are bent, crumpled, and often mutilated be- fore they can be removed from their wrappers. It is better to place them in a flat wrapping or an envelope. The palm of victory for improbable stories should be awarded' The High School Sladeht QNewport News H. SQ. The Rani Ledger cher's Thanksgiving is very interesting, as it is based mostly on Western life, How It All Came About is a very good story, but it introduces too many Char- acters to make it interesting. Usually when we see a poem in the pages of our exchanges we brace our- selves, and prepare for the worst, but when we read those in The Howard Col- legian we were pleasantly disappointed. Although, G, sea, hast thou no grace, an elegy written on the death of a fellow student, has not the commanding power of Lycidas,l' or the poetic heights of K'Adonais, it has a depth of feeling in it, that is seldom displayed in scholastic verse. The stories in this publication are excellent, the first one, The Con- queror Conqueredw being told with vigor and precision, denoting a good writer. The other two, though fairly good, do not approach the first in quality. An- other commendable feature is the manner of handling the Alumni column. The notices are written in a highly interesting way, in striking contrast with the usual alumni comments. Clippings 'THE LEDGRR is the best school paper we receive. Everything in it is good reading matter, and the make-up of the whole paper is excellent.-Tech Prep CChicagoj.
