New England winters have an enemy in MR. WAYLAND J. HOLLEY, graduate of Dartmouth College (B.A.) and Northwest- ern University (CM.A.). The English teacher enjoyed hunt- ing and competitive sports during high school. MR. FRANK LANDRY, a teacher of English, received his B.S. from Plymouth Teachers Col- lege and his M.Ed. from Bos- ton University. A teacher of home economics, MISS ELEANOR B. HYDE gradv- ated from Framingham State Teachers College .(B.S.) and did graduate study at Boston University, Springfield College, and Furman University. MR. BERNARD M. LAVELLE, father of four, is an adviser to the Class of 1966 and an Eng- lish teacher. One who dislikes poor listeners, Mr. Lavelle was graduated from St. Anselm‘s College (B.A.) and Westfield State Teachers College. (M.Ed.) Machine calculation teacher and Caduceus photographer, MR. HAROLD W. JONES is a grad- vate of Springfield College (B.S. and M.E.). The major annoyance of our audio-visual coordinator is people who do not follow directions. MR. RAYMOND LEMIEUX, a graduate of Bridgewater State Teachers College (B.S.) and the University of Virginia CM.Ed.), teaches American History and modern problems. A high school football player, Mr. Lemieux has two children. Students who neglect their school responsibilities are the pet peeve of MR. NORMAND LAFLAMME, a teacher of Alge- bra | and Il and geometry. Mr. LaFlamme is business ad- viser to “Commerce,” our newspaper. MRS. CATHERINE A. LEONE is a graduate of the College of New Rochelle (B.A.) and Springfield College (M.E.). She also has done advanced work at Columbia University and the University of Massachusetts. Mrs. Leone teaches the girls’ auxiliary class.

Mr. Fin- negan tells us that Mr. Mea- cham is his pet peeve! A teacher of English, MRS. HELEN GRIFFIN graduated from Fitchburg Teachers College (B.S.E.) and Springfield Col- lege (M.Ed.). Mrs. Griffin is adviser of the National Honor Society, and her pet peeve is disorganization. MR. JOHN P. GAFFNEY, JR., English and speech teacher and adviser to the Drama Club, was the 1936 Senior Class president at Commerce. Mr. Gaffney was graduated from AIC (B.A.) and did graduate work at Columbia, Yale, Colorado, and San Fran- cisco. MR. GEORGE M. HARGREAVES, a newcomer to our school, graduated from the University of Maine (B.A. M.A.), La- Salle CL.L.B.), Springfield Col- lege, and Army War College. He is a teacher of world geog- raphy and an Army reserve offi- cer. English Lit., lunch, and wasting time were the favorite high school subjects of MR. MELVIN H. GRANT, a graduate of the University. of Massachusetts CA.B.) and A.I.C. CM.A.). He is Capers Director and college prep English teacher. A graduate of American Inter- national College (B.S.) and Springfield College (M.Ed.), MR. JAMES J. HARRINGTON teaches Typing Il. The pet peeves of Mr. Harrington are noisy hallways and the assem- bly hall. Girls’ physical education in- structor MISS FLORENCE €E. GREENLEAF was graduated from Bliss Business College (B.S.) and the University of Maine (M.S.). Miss Greenleaf is in charge of cheerleading, bowling, softball, and badmin- ton. MR. JOHN J. MACKAY, a teacher of economics and U.S. History, received his education at American International Col- lege (B.S. and M.A.). As a favorite pastime, Mr. MacKay enjoys skiing. MRS. FRANCES MAHAN, a teacher of shorthand and ad- viser of the Freshman Class, is a graduate of American Inter- national College (B.S., M.Ed.) A teacher of English, MRS. MARGARET M. MANNIX stud- ied at Westfield State College for her B.S. and B.Ed. Mrs. Mannix lists active participation in Literature Club and French Club as her favorite activities when she was a high school student. “Waiting’’ is the pet peeve of MISS RUTH G. MARSDEN, who teaches commercial art. Miss Marsden attended Parsons School of Design, Grand Cen- tral School of Art, Boston Uni- versity, and Springfield College. She is adviser to our Art and Clay Club. Red Cross adviser, MISS MARY E. McCARTHY attended the Col- lege of Our Lady of the Elms (A.B.) and Springfield College (M.Ed.). Miss McCarthy pre- sides over the Spanish home- room, a composite of past and present Spanish students. MISS ALBERTA McCLEARY, who teaches biology, is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College (B.S.) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.S.). Yearbook editor during her own high school days, she is our photog- raphy adviser for Caduceus. 15 MISS JOAN McDONALD, .a graduate of American Interna- tional College (B.S.) and New York University (M.S.), teaches bookkeeping and typing. A teacher of physics and the director of stage lighting, MR. BARON V. McDUFFEE is a graduate of Fitchburg Teachers College (B.S.Ed., M.Ed.) and has done further study at the University of Massachusetts and University of Connecticut.
