Miss Mary Rearden Secretary to Dr. Gamel Mrs. Dorothy Malone Office Staff Dr. Oscar Y. Gamel, principal, assumed his posi- tion at the High School of Commerce in Septem- ber, 1953. During these last five years, he has been instrumental in bringing about many im- provements in our school. In addition to adminis- trative work, Dr. Gamel has always been able to find time to accommodate the students who seek his advice and approval on various matters. Born in Moody, Texas, Dr. Gamel received his B.A. from West Texas State College. He then attended Columbia University, where he earned his M. Ed. and Ph. D. Ed. degrees. Before he came to Commerce, he was assistant principal of Van Sickle Junior High School and principal of Chest- nut Street Junior High School.
