Foreword We, the staff of Caduceus, present in this our 1958 memory book some of the cherished things which we shall carry away from our seemingly brief high school career. Most of our memories are intangible — the timid fears of a bewildered freshman, the daily morning stroll through the corridors, the familiar request for a pass, the rebuke or praise of an unexpectedly requested classroom recita- tion, the eager press of the lunchroom crowd, the dis- covery that a secret admiration is mutual, the inward flutter before opening a report card envelope, the merited pride of a lofty senior, the fleeting days before gradua- tion. Other memories are events — the big game we won, the dance we attended, the stage show we enjoyed put- ting on, the formal prom, and finally the receipt of our treasured diploma. These and other memories are often embodied in the words we have heard and thrilled to throughout the years. Among them are the proud school motto, the jubilant refrains of our school song, the spirited school cheers, the pronouncements at Commencement. It is these Commerce traditions in words that we fondly commemorate in our 1958 Caduceus.
