FORREST L. SHEELY T. L. MABRY, Vice President DR. L.H. LEBERMAN, Secretary MRS. FORREST L. SHEELY JACK CHAPIN GRADY OWENS JIM ABLOWICH SUPERINTENDENT MR. W. D. DRUMMOND It is difficult indeed for meto bring to you in a few words the message that I would like to bring to such a fine and deserving stu dent body, however, I doknelieve that you know me well enough to be able to read into it my every thought and wish for you. One of your biggest tasks today is learning to live in this world with other people. To attain this goal, you must first learn to live with yourself. This comes from the knowledge that you are meet ing in a creditable manner the responsibilities that you have. You cannot isolate yourself, so keep in the midst of life. Talent develops itself in solitude but character is molded in the stream of life. Strive to cultivate those traits that will develop char- acter---Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Humility, Courtesy, Unself- ishness, and Sincerity. MAA PRINCIPAL MR. JAMES F. NELSON The primary function of schools is the development of good citizens. Today as never before, our Nation needs them--citizens who can think for themselves and who will not be led off to false goals. May our aim be, as individual members of Commerce High School, to hold before the school such motives as will encourage others to as- pire to scholarly habits, enlisting in worthy service, and leading forward in all things that will advance the welfare of the school.
