Q':'zu.- igkgzf L-,QM CLASSES W HONORS Florentine Urban placed first in the Dramatic Declaration division of the District Oratorical Contest held in the Southwestern High School auditorium on April 22 and won second place in the City Contest held at Wayne Univer- sity on May 7. Frank Reineri submitted the winning editorial in the national contest con- ducted by Quill and Scroll magazine. His editorial was entitled The World Must Turn Political Barriers into Economic Bridges. Betty Sharkofsky was awarded first prize by the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Theta Sigma Phi for the best news story of the year written by a Detroit high school girl journalist. Robert Schmidt was national winner in the Current News contest sponsored by Quill and Scroll magazine. Complete and concise answers to a group of present-day questions concerning politics, music, dramatics, and sports brought him this recognition. Irene Thomas won second place in the Detroit division of the National Unity Essay Contest. Betty Patrick of East Commerce and Roland Naftaly of Commerce were school winners in the annual Civitan Contest.
