ll lHl HllHllllHllSr each of you will wear about your shoulders a cloak. Some will wear it with the grace and dignity befit- ting costly fur and shimmering satin, others will wear it with shrinking shoulders as if to slip from beneath the sombre folds of a heavy burden. Strangely enough, you can never flaunt it too proudly or entirely shrink from under it. lt has this peculiarity: it is invisible to others, but the wearer is never entirely unconscious of it even though he thinks he has thrown it aside. What is this strange cloak and of what mater- ial is it made? It is the cloak of Responsibility- woven of the discipline, learning and culture that have gone into your education. When you go forth from this place where your cloak has been woven, you will see lawlessness, you will see ignorance, you will see sordidness. lf you wear your cloak gallantly, you will live a disci- plined, well ordered lifeg you will continue to grow intellectually, you will cultivate an appreciation for the best in reading, in music and in art. You will not think of yourself alone, you will think of your responsibility toward others.
