Miss Mary T. Clarke, Dean of Girls Congratulations to the Graduating Class of June, 1947. Your page of High School history has been well written. Your many fine scholar ' ship records, and your outstanding contribu ' tions to happy school living through your as- semblies, clubs, school paper, and games, may rightly give you cause for pride and satisfaction today. Tomorrow you become world citizens. Your horizon will cover the whole world. You will 6nd that the avenues to success radiate to all parts of the world; and you will find, too, that your obligations will be broadened to include the welfare of all men as well as your own. You go out into an unsettled world of con- fusion. Your contribution to its betterment will not be unlike the contribution you made to happy school living, and the supreme effort of right doing — for yourself and for your fellow- man — are your only guide posts to success. ' All for one, and one for all ' is a grand motto for a shield. Will it be on yours? AUss Mary Clarke The Deans ' The whole is equal to the sum of its parrs. This familiar axiom is accurate when we are dealing with mathematical quantities. But when the quantities are human the axiom fails; for with human quantities we can make a whole that is far greater than the sum of its parts. Consider a basketball team for example- Five individual players on a basketball court, each playing for himself, would be a weak team no matter how good the players. But five men playing together, each supporting the others and working in combination with them, make a team that is full of power. You graduates have, by working together, made at Commerce a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. You will continue to find that whatever your field of activity you can multiply the results of your efforts by team- work and cooperation. We wish for you the best of success, and continued membership on the team. Mr. Joseph Hill Mr. Joseph B. Hill, Dean of Boys

Miss O ' Malley ' s fine classical education, broad travel, and passionate love of reading have enabled her to teach English so effectively that even the most reluc- tant student has been led to understand, to appreciate, and to love the masterpieces of our language. In the last two years, other of Miss O ' Malley ' s talents have been used for the benefit of the school. She has brought to bear on her problems as Registrar a calm judgment and a keen sense of fair play ' which have made her service in this position outstanding. The faculty and the students of Commerce want Miss O ' Malley to know that they will miss her and that they sincerely hope that her days of retirement will bring her everything her heart desires.
