Dear Friends: There have been many changes at Commack High School South in the last two years as evidenced by the introduction of new subjects and the growth of a strong extra-curricular and sports program. It has been exciting to watch a student body become involved in the responsibilities inherent in its new school. It would seem appropriate to pause as we enter the dec- ade of the seventies, with its many conflicts and changes, and reflect upon the increasing influence Commack High School South will have on thousands who pass through its doors in the next ten years. lt is important that the school create an atmosphere conducive to student involvement, for it is here that one can learn the full meaning of a sense of responsibility. The skills and knowledge acquired will certainly help those who graduate to play a positive and ever-increasing role in finding solutions for the controver- sies of the day. This yearbook represents one of the many school activities that require student involvement. It has been a real-life situation where young people, challenged with a goal, faced the realities of deadlines, limited budget and solutions to opposing ideas. Their degree of success, portraying the school program in word and picture, will be judged by all who read these pages. We feel confident that you, too, will be proud of the record. Pride in accomplishment can serve as motivation for future attainment of worthwhile goals. As parents and staff view with pride what has been accomplished by so many in these two years, hopefully it will serve as a source of faith and belief in what can and will be accomplished at Comrnack High School South during the seventies.
