SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1947, Miss Esther Draeger welcomed fourteen scared but eager pupils to the first grade. They were: David Anderson, Robert Duncan, Dennis Gorman, Keith Katcher, Daniel Nicholson, William Rouse, Robert Strietmatter, Robert Tobin, Bonnie Boyer, Dea Ann Elliott, Lois Lackore, Charlene Lemons, Doris Linn, Muriel Mannetter. Ronald Kraninger and James Chapin joined us the second semester. Miss Esther Draeger again welcomed us to the second grade. Judy Hillier and Philip Tetzloff joined us, while David Anderson, Robert Tobin, and Daniel Nicholson left us. In our third year we started with fifteen pupils, Miss Rosella McComb being our teacher. Charles Bonnette, James Tibbits, Joyce McCoy, Ruby Theilen, Kenneth Eagen, Patsy Tudor, and JoAnn Steinberg joined us later on in the year. We now numbered twenty-one. Upon entering fourth grade we lost Ruby Theilen, Kenneth Eagen, JoAnn Steinberg, and Philip Tetzloff, but we regained Charles Bonnette and Philip Tetzloff back at the beginning of the second semester. Our teacher that year was Mrs. Joyce Cavanaugh. In our fifth year, Miss Beverly Trich was our teacher. At the beginning of the year, we were joined by Frieda Adlemund. Our roll call was then nineteen. The year 1952 brought us three new pupils. They were: Eli Martin, Evelyn Boofer, and Sandra Juhl. James Tibbits, James Chapin, and Robert Strietmatter left us. Mrs. Onalee Wickersham was our teacher. Mrs. Merelyn Albaugh ushered in sixteen enthusiastic seventh graders. Sandra Rivers joined us and Sandra Juhl, Eli Martin, Dennis Gorman, DeaAnn Elliott, and Charles Bonnette failed to return for that year. The eighth grade graduates of 1955 numbered seventeen including Glen Ferch who joined us at the beginning of the year. Mrs. Merelyn Albaugh was again our teacher. Chris Cordes, Sandra Gesell, Daniel Nicholson, and Janet Parson joined us at the beginning of our Freshman year. GlenFerch did not join that year. Our class enrollment now totaled twenty. Mr. Schlader was our class sponsor. Joyce McCoy and Frieda Adlemund were absent in our Sophomore year and Sandra Rivers and Evelyn Boofer left us in the second semester, which left us with sixteen students for the 1956 - 1957 school year. Mr. Lugauer was our sponsor. Lois Lackore and Janet Parsons failed to join us in our Junior year. We now numbered fourteen. Mrs. Steele was our class sponsor. Our graduating class of 1959 numbers twelve. Daniel Nicholson, and Sandra Gesell were not with us for our final year. Our class sponsor was Mr. John Halstead, Principal. Z li X gi X L I 2 c -? PROP!-IECY lt is now 1969. Ten years have passed and have made great changes on the graduates who once were in old C.H.S. The former Bonnie Boyer is still rodding around Colwell in her little 1949 Ford. She and her husband are kept busy trying to keep track of their five hot rodders and running the local taxi business. Speaking of cars, far off in the distance we hear the clattering rods of the Tetzloff Plymouth. Philip is still driving his dad's car and running out all of his dad's gas! He was left heart broken after Karla refused to accept the diamond he offered, although he hasn't given up yet. If we visited the old Elliott estate We would find the former Patsy Tudor huddled in her trailer house trying to keep Duff and the three little ones fed and warm. On the Kraninger farm we would find Ronald and Joyce and their three sets of twins who are finally living well, even though it did take Ronnie three years to capture Joyce. Reverend and Mrs. Wendell Debner are residing in the parsonage of the Colwell Church. Muriel has fulfilled the dream of the Mannetter family by becoming a minister's wife. She is also a proud mother of four lovely children. Robert Duncan, who was always a hero of the seventh grade class, is still chasing after Mary Lovejoy. We've heard by the grapevine that he has finally given her a diamond. Charlene Lemons has finally hooked the one she has always admired, even though her classmates anticipated that she might be an old maid. She has now married Gordon and they are both kept busy chasing after their four little speed- demons. The electronic brain of Colwell High is now Professor Keith Katcher at Iowa State. He is making good wages to support Diane and the six little brains. While driving in the country we came upon a 1954 Chevy with a flat tire. When we stopped to help the lady fix it, who but the former Doris Linn, should step out with her four little rascals. Chris Cordes came back from California for a vacation bringing his wife, Judy, and their three little ones. He is now an Admiral in the Navy. The former Judy Hillier is kept busy with her part-time secretarial job and keeping house for her husband and their three children. We are sure she is just as happy-go-lucky as she ever was. Has anyone seen Bill Rouse? The last we have heard of him, he was preparing to leave on his adventure into the heart of Africa. Possibly the African hunt wasn't quite like the coon hunting at home. He must have gotten lost! Having met all our classmates, we decided to visit the high school of Colwell High. The class room has changed and there are no familiar faces left after ten years.
