The group, which was headed by President Craig Miller, treasurer Bruce Gartner and membership chairman Eric Morrow, directed a large part of their energy toward a year-end lettermanis banquet. The club was also on hand to help out the Maine Athletic Boosters. Mr. Gregg, in his first year advising the group, expressed hopes for a larger, more active club in the year to come. Any girl was again welcome to join the ac- tivities ofthe Girls, Athletic Association as there was no club membership. GAA sponsored a jogg- ing and conditioning exercising program for female students and teachers, as well as co-ed fencing. Due to its popularity, the intramural judo self-defense developed into a P.E. class, a reversal of the usual procedure. In addition to running the intramural activities, GAA spon- sored co-ed family night, organized the two Award Night ceremonies, and operated the con- cession stands at all home football games, Girls' Athletic Association Officers Left to right: M. us Club Popularit Grows Popularity in Circus Club has grown im- mensely, and club membership increased this year. Adviser Miss Axelson attributes part of this popularity to Olga Korbut's influence on girls with gymnastics ambitions. Circus Club took a major interest in and performed in many Homecoming activities this year. They also provided entertainment for Forest Hospital, several churches, elementary and junior high schools. New acts added this year were a double mini tramp, tumbling act, a hand and foot com- bination, Spanish Webb routine and a flying and catching act on the trapeze. Also a seven- foot high unicycle routine has been devised. Another highlight of the year was when a Ringl- ing Brothers performer demonstrated a routine on the Spanish Webb for Circus Club members.
