ITH Provides Sports Coverage . XA gags. Guided by General Manager Mr. Mitchell and Chief Engineer Mr. Whitfield, the growing WMTH staff worked to continue smooth opera- tion of one of the oldest high school education stations in the nation. The members served as disc jockeys, control room operators, engineers, typists, record and tape librarians, reporters, newscasters and announcers. The broadcasts this year were designed to be interesting and informative. Such programs included local, national and international news, Current Comment, a talk show where students interviewed a variety of guests, Community Bulletin Board, which informed the community of local eventsg Sounds from the Underground with progressive rock music and the Twin Eight Survey which played the top 40 sounds for the students in the area. Live play by-play coverage of sporting events contributed to the rise in school spirit. The station is owned by the dis- trict and programming from the four schools was transmitted through the studios at East. IQ w . The school's literary magazine, Ouroboros, came out in the early spring this year in an attempt to inspire writers and poets to submit their work for next year. Several English teachers spent time discussing material from the magazine with their classes. The staff, con- sisting of volunteers from the Creative Writing classes, read the entries, voted for the best ones, and typed them up for the magazine. Selec- tions were made on the basis of their creativeness and originality.
