Photo Essay Featured in With new staff adviser Ms. Golman, came many new ideas and changes within the year- book. The photo essay in the Introduction sec- tion was a new feature of Lens. The introduc- tion, used to develop this year's theme, We can make it happen, was intended to expand stu- dent interest beyond the walls of Maine East. The cover design, a progression of pictures from an empty stadium to a capacity crowd, also in- corporated the theme imvolvement. Through the addition of more copy this year, Lens tried to provide a thorough written, as well as pictorial record of the year. Staff members were sent to interview various ad- ministrators, department chairmen, coaches and club advisors to present events and changes which occurred. A Special Events section was added to highlight some of the main events of the year. Also, a reorganization of the staff system oc- curred. The staff for the first time, was divided into various sections with section editors overseeing their group's work. This subdivision enabled members to gain experience in all aspects of yearbook production. For the first time also there were two editors-in-chief, senior Anna Galan and junior Laura Vincolese. It's all very well to have courage and skill And it's fine to be counted a star, But the single deed with its touch of thrill Doesn't tell us the man you areg For there's no lone hand in the game we play, We must work to a bigger scheme, And the thing that counts in the World to-day Is, How do you pull with the team? They may sound your praise and call you great They may single you out for fame, But you must work with your running mate Or you'll never win the gameg Oh, never the work of life is done By the man with a selfish dream, For the battle is lost or the battle is won. By the spirit of the team. You may think it fine to be praised for skill, But a greater thing to do Is to set your mind and set your will On the goal thatis just in view, It's helping your fellowman to score When his chances hopeless seemg It's forgetting self till the game is o'er And fighting for the team. -Edgar A.
