Cross-Country Underclassmen Excelled The Columbus Cross-Country team made a fine showing this year in their eight meets under the excellent coaching of Dave Stevens. The boys on the team were John Burns. Dick Gersib, Doug Becker, Dan Bernt, Dick Hoth, Tom McCarthy, Bill Fulton and Jeff Marxen. Doug Becker, a junior, was the number one Columbus runner, and placed in the top ten in every meet. Becker qualified in the District meet enabling him to go to the State meet where he finished 25th out of 65 contenders.
