During their stay many exciting events took place including a feud and a wedding. The play was very well performed and was enjoyed by an appreciative audience. CLASS PROPHECY As Father Time unrolls his scroll in 1980, we prophecy that each member of this class will have made a name for himself in this big, wide world. On the basis of their know- ledge inherited, education acquired and experiences obtained during their days at Columbus High School, the class prophecy is as follows: Norris Anderson finally chalked up a win this year in the Memorial Day race at the Indianapolis Speedway, Norris has been practicing since his high school days on these speed runs and this year it paid off in first place money. He has a special section of the grandstand reserved each time he races for seating his out-of-town girl friends who come to watch him perform. Dr. Douglas Bonsness, D.D., D.D.T., world famous plastic surgeon, has recently shocked the world with new experiments using parts of elephants trunks in grafting. His patients are warned to keep away from places where peanuts are served. Marlowe Brusven has staked out one of the first homesteads on the planet of Mars. He got a lot of farming experience during high school days and when he heard that there were no women on Mars he decided that was the place for a shy, bashful, fellow like him to live. Gary Burau, who made his first million on a small farm in Burke County raising brown- nosed Herefords, now has made his second million on Broadway. Gary was a most successful farmer but not completely happv on the farm because he liked to be around a string of girls. He has now bought a share in Radio City where he is the producer in charge of the world famous Radio City Rockettes—a half a hundred beautiful girls under his control and he says now he has found his fulfillment. Dianne Parras, who always had an answer for everything, got into the big money last night on the TV program Keep Talking. She has been a contestant for the past 18 weeks and so far has never run out of chatter, thereby raking up a grand total of $15.49. Dianne said she expected to use her earnings to take a trip to Texas where she hopes to make the acquaintance of a rich oil tycoon. The National Association of Secretaries today voted Sandra Granrud a most outstanding secretary of the year. Sandra has been employed in the offices of Yakity-Yak TV Associates, a studio for producing TV Commercials. She won the recommendation from her boss for this honor of secretary of the year for her contribution of quietness. When asked how she learned to be so quiet, sne said she had been in school witn a class of 16 other girls and never got a chance to talk. Woman lawyer Lorna Guderjohn finally won a case, her first in fifteen years. It was a case of Purina Chickens, won at a raffle sponsored by the Science Club. Dr. Clayton Holte has recently been on probation for telling his patient that those teeth are all right, but those gums have got to go. The City Publishing Company in New Salem has just presented to Sarann Carlstad a gold bound copy of her latest book, Friendship is a Golden Chain, which has sold over a million copies. Miss Carlstad is the author of a long list of best sellers and tall tales. Her writings are a hobby she pursues in her spare time from her regular job of editing the magazines of Glamor and Mademoiselle. Myrna Running and Sallle Burau, experts on love and marriage, have just published their latest Hook entitled, Tross Over the Bridge of Love—Happiness Is Just Over the Hill” A special luncheon was given today on Capital Hill in honor of Financial Secretary Karmen Ronning, after an associated press release gave the news that for the first time in the nation’s history, the budget had been balanced and that prosperity was at an all-time high. Karmen is a certified public accountant and with her keen business judgement, has wiped out unemployment completely except for a small section in Burke County, North Dakota, where we still hear rumors from Columbus High School .that 99% are not working. Friends of Bonnie Farstad were surprised to see her on TV last night doing the commercial for new improved Geritol, the bone, blood, and body builder. She told of her own personal experience of trying to lose weight without cutting down on food, an experiment she has worked on since her high school days. New Geritol is the product of her efforts. Jeannette Nordtvedt has been appointed to the Presidents Cabinet as Secretary of the Treasury. Jeannette will take over the position as soon as she can get released from her duties as Inspector in the Internal Revenue Department. She says she feels well qualified for the job for she relates that anyone who can keep a set of class treasurer books for seniors can tackle almost anything. She will be the only woman on the cabinet but she always was able to get along with the opposite sex so that should prove no problem to her. Myrna Dewing, who has a Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York, has been given the presidential appointment of foreign ambassador to Pakistan. Her knowledge of foreign affairs makes her a perfect choice for the post and the first hand information she gained during the five years she was a private secretary in the White House will be invaluable to her in her new job. Larry love'em and leave'em Haugerud is now divorcing his sixth wife. He says he just can t find one who can run the tractor on his 500 acre farm. You'd never guess it! After many years of unsuccessful marriages. Perky Rude is now president of the Lonely Hearts Club”. Her motto, Love'em, beat era, cheat'em, and leave' Officials behind the iron curtain today received an ultimatum from the United States Embassy for the prompt release of an United States Citizen, our own Jerome Carlson, whom they have had in custody for several months. Jerome invented a new type of wheat combine and met with such success in Russia that they have refused to let him leave. The ultimatum was issued, however, on a plea from LeRoy Gilbertson that he be allowed to go back to the United States to finish his invention on a typewriter that will not make mistakes. He is sure he can make a million dollars on it if he can perfect it and get it installed in high school typing classes. Muriel Watterud was today awarded $10,000 as a grand prize in the Singer Sewing Contest. Muriel always was a good seamstress but never had the time to enter the contest until she recently lost her job at the National Library of Congress. Her supervisor said she was a very effecient librarian but he had to let her go because she spent too much time gazing out the window watching the race cars practice on the nearby race track. Sheldon Thompson has finally lost on the current quiz show You Bet Your Wife . Says Sheldon, It took me nine years, but I finally got rid of her. Now he has to dispose of the 900 wives that he won. The President of the United States just returned from another Summit Conference with one of his two top secretaries, Myrna Witty. The other Cleo Iverson is still in Geneva, arguing with the Soviet Prime Minister. Rodney Mader, after many years of faithful service selling regular gas at Mobile Service Station has been promoted to the high test pump. Mervin Holter, who attempted a solo flight in a high powered atomic cannon, was last seen traveling over Tokyo at 300 miles an hour. Flash.1 Dennis Flaherty is the owner of a fleet of rockets that will span the globe in 30 minutes. Betsy'Matson, Pat Whaley and Gloria Olson are his charming hostesses. Not all the class Eas male scientific strides. There are some who are contributing their part by making a perplexed and weary world laugh. Bill Thorndal, who was always a perfect Circus shortly after he left high school, of Clowns. _ _ _ _ _ CLASS clown in school, joined the Ringling Brothers He has become such a success he was named King POEM Ladies and Gentlemen Your attention please, You are about to hear A masterpiece. CLASS HISTORY In September of 1956, a confused group of freshmen huddled in the halls of Columbus High School. When Supt. Triplett called the roll at the opening assembly and seated the newcomers, there were thirty. Of this number five had started together in the'first grade with Miss Sime as their teacher. They were: Dianne Darras, Sally Burau, Karmen Ronning, Myrna Dewing, and Larry Haugerud. Through the years we gained and lost a few and in 1956 there were thirty eighth grade graduates. They were: Norris Anderson, Douglas Bonsness, Ann Bingham, Dennis Flaherty, Sheldon Thompson, Clayton Holte, Larry Haugerud, Bill Thorndal, Gary Burau, Rodney Mader, Cleone Gerde, Myrna Running, Cleo Iverson, Lorna Guderjohn, Myrna Dewing, Jeannette Nordtvedt, Karmen Ronning, Sharon Nelson, Muriel Watterud, Gayle Carlson, Sally Burau, LeRoy Gilbertson, Betsy Matson, Mervin Holter, Myrna Wick, Marlowe Brusven, Kathleen Rude, Sarann Carlstad, Sandra Granrud, and Myrna Witty. With Miss Moede as our advisor, we floundered through our first class meeting and elected Clayton for President, Rodney as Vice-President and Kathleen as Secretary- Treasurer. To help us get better acquainted the Sophomores gave us an Initiation Party. When we congregated at the beginning of our Sophomore year we had thirty-one sophisticated members with Mr. Ihurn as our advisor. We elected Dennis as president, Jerome as Vice-President, Myrna W, as Secretary and Lorna as Treasurer. Kathleen represented us on the Student Council. Our members were rapidly becoming leaders and were holding important positions in athletics and other activities. Five of our boys made the varsity team in basketball. Our Junior year was full of scholastic, extracurricular and social activities. We chose the following officers: Sheldon as President, Rodney as Vice-President, Lorna as Secretary and Jeannette as Treasurer, with Mr. Thompson as advisor. Mr. Thompson was our class advisor. Many members were winning honors for themselves in athletics and musical activities. Four of our boys were on the basketball team, one participated in wrestling, eleven were members of the band, and seventeen were in the chorus. Two members of our class were cheerleaders. Jeannette and Bill were elected King and Queen of the Christmas Ball. As we hear the strains of the graduation march we realize that it is our group who will soon be leaving. LAST WILL TESTAMENT We, the undersignedf known officially as the Senior Class of Columbus, of 1960 being of unsound mind, of weak heart, and having but a few short hours to dwell among the horrors of the trials and tribulations of our high school days, do make, publish, and declare this to be our last Will and Testament. To our School we leave our love and loyalty. We also leave the echoes of our soothing voices, the privilege of looking at our senior class pictures, and all the clever jokes in study hall and classes. To the Faculty we leave our appreciation for their understanding and patience and our thanks for their guidance and interest. We also leave them our supply of good grades to give to the kids next year and a dozen red pencils to replace the ones they used up in marking our papers this year. To the Juniors we bequeath that rare gift called senior privileges. We also leave them our ability to raise money and a map of Minot so they wonft get lost there next year on their skip day. We also leave them our poise and dignity which they sadly need. To the Sophmores we give what few traces of meekness and humility we may have left and a lot of advice which we won’t specify because they won’t follow it anyway. To the Freshmen we give our brains and ability, the joy of laughing at nothing and the pleasures and pangs of puppy love.
