PUTTI ' TI-IE RITZ This year fashion broke all rules. You could do now what you had never thought of before. You could go crazy for paisley or mix bright, bold plaids. You could break the monotony of solids by adding a tapestry tie or a polka dot scarf, and textured hose were a must. You could either go sleek with spike heels or funky with a pair of bright high-top sneakers. Layers were a hit again for fall. It was consid- ered stylish to wear shirttails out, under bright shaker knit sweaters worn with snug-fitting jeans, two pairs of brightly colored socks, and coordinating Reebok high-tops. The hot new show Miami Vice set the fashion standards for guys. The blazer, once only worn on formal occasions, took on a new casual look. ln any season, white pants were a necessity. Around the school, the most common sights were distressed jeans with Polo shirts. 28 Fashions 8: Fads 1. 1 lr i.4--'- ' ci?
