Mathematics, an important part of the curriculum, is Kenneth Gibbs, under the supervision of Mr. Bennett, constructs a geometrical figure for class explanation. Since a large majority of the student body at CHS is enrolled in math classes of some sort, this particular department has a crew of qualified teachers who stress the importance of these sub- jects. At least two years of math, in either algebra or general math, are required for a student to graduate. lt is highly recommended that other math courses are taken, which may include advanced algebra, trigonometry, plane geometry, and solid geometry. Aside from the principle elements taught in math that we use throughout the rest of our lives, math also develops our ability to reason clearly and precisely. Miss Fannie George Higgins heads this de- partment of service at CHS. Miss Fannie George Higgins, head of the math department, explains the fundamentals of a graph to Andy Roddenberry.
