TOP-KNOT Columbus School for Girls l i . I HE girls of the Columbus School for Girls have always been interested in dramatics, but until recently there has never been a permanent Dramatic Club. The Winsome Wig Dramatic Club was formed last year, and gives every indication of continuing for many more years. Were it not for The Rivals, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, the Winsome Wig might never have been. The cast for The Rivals was selected by Mr. Samuel Arthur King of Bryn Mawr in the fall of 1921, but unfortunately since the girls did not have the time that year to produce the play as it should be given, it was postponed. In order that the cast should lose none of its enthusiasm, and in order to promote an active interest in dramatics, Mrs. McClure suggested that The Rivals cast should be the founders of a Dramatic Club. The Winsome Wig is the result. There are two methods of admission-by special recommendation for talent, and by try-outs. The try-outs this year were most successful, and eight girls were admitted by this method. Twenty is the limit for membership. l13l

TOP-KNOT Columbus School for Girls The Rivals was given on November 18, 1922, in the auditorium of South High School. After a week of intensive training under Mr. King and our school coach, Miss Hatheway, the talent of every member of the cast was brought out to its best advantage, and an artistic production was the result. It was also a financial success, owing to the selling of the tickets by the Gold and Red Teams of the school. Another play is to be given by the club in the immediate future. The club hopes to give every year one' long play, on which a great deal of time and money will be spent, and a series of. short plays of a more amateur nature. The resignation in February of the president, Frances Wolverton, was a disappointment, but her successor, Elizabeth Rasor, has most capably filled the position. l all A f m ll E141
