? .4-,JM 1 Q ci-HEP s'1 A1-'F CAPTAIN STUART TESADLER, USN 9 Captain Stuart Tees Sadler, USN, was born in Tangerine, Orange County, Florida, near Orlando. He attended Bullis Prepara- tory School, Silver Spring, Maryland, prior to entering the U.S Naval Academ - Y, Annapolis, Maryland 1940. Captain- Sadler graduated from the Naval Academy in 1943, a member of the class of 1944. He was then assigned to duty aboard the USS MC CORD QDD-5345 which operated in the Pacific until the close of World War Il taking part in nine major engagements in this theatre. From there he was orderedto Destroyer Duty in the Atlantic Fleet as Gun- nery Of f ic er and Executive Officer of HAROLD J. ELLISON QDD-8643, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of the A. 4 LUKE QDE-5773. Upon decommissioning o -Q the A.J. LUKE, he commanded the PCEC 877, a unit of the Atlantic Fleet Amphibious Forces, from 1947 to 1949. ' He' attended Post Graduate School from 1949 to 1951 specializing in Ordnance En- gineering. Captain Sadler received Master of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engi- neering from Carnegie Institute of Technol- ogy, Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania in 1952. He was then attached to the USS NEW JERSEY QBB-625 from 1952 to 1954 during 9 . H -I A vi - the Korean Conflict?-iFromZ1954 to '1956 he was assigned to the Bureau of Ordnance, Washington, D.C. From 1956 to 1957 he s e r ve d as Exe.c'u,ti.ve,..g,,Officer of the USS LEARY CDD-879Jfand.6fr.om1957 to 1959 he commanded the USS! SIGOURNEY QDD-6439 in the Atlantic. Q He then returned to Washington and was assistant Engineering Officer at the U.S. Naval Weapons Plant from 1959,to31960. He attended the Senior course at the Nayal War College, Newport, Rhode 1s1and,rff6m 1960 to 1961. DuringthGP91'iOd1961to 1963 he commanded the CUSS QDLG-155 in the Pacific. ' -- A 1 R e tu r ning again to Washington, he served as assistant tothe Technical Direc- tor, Technical Plans at the Bureau of Naval Weapons from 1963 to 1965. ln April 1965, he assumed command of Destroyer Divison FOUR TWO, homeported in Charleston, South Carolina. J , 1 - 1,5 in Captain' Sadler -married the fo r m e r Miss Aura May, Curtis of Tampa, Florida, in July 1945. At the' time -Miss Curtis was a Lieutenant Junior Grade-fin the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps . They have two children, a son, Stuart T. Sadler, Jr., age 16 and a daughter, Catherine Rerdell Sadler, age 10. 9 m i
