We, the Senior Class of 1955 dedicate our Columbian to Mr. Percy Shunck-- , , --better known to the students and citiaens of Columbiaville as Pete. Mr. Shunck was 'born in Oscoda, Michigan on October 30,l883, the son of Dr. and Mrs. J. D. Shunck. When he was about a year old his family moved to Trinidad, Colorado where his father pursued his profession of dentistry. The family moved back to Michigan two years later and settled in Bay City where Pete attended School. After he had finished school, his adventures took him to the Great Lakes where he sailed on Lake ships for about fifteen years. In 1913, he moved to Florida and lived there until 19l6. When the First World War broke out, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After his discharge, he again went back to the Great Lakes. With the Depression of 1929, he came to Columbiaville and worked at the local woolen mill as a weaver. This was his occupation until 1936, when he became employed at Columbia- ville High School as custodian. He stayed with us until he retired at the end of the school year of 1954. Many students, past and present, will always remember him as the kind and helpful man he is. ,He has helped many a student to find his way in the world with his keen knowledge of children. It is a great pleasure to dedicate our Columbian to this man.
