Seam Blau Jlazmq As freshmen, we reigned supreme at Iunior High. Proceeding through the year with an air of superiority that a class is certain to ac- quire upon becoming freshmen, we entered into the many activities offered at Junior High with vim and vigor. The Glee Club, Drum and Bugle Corps, and Orchestra claimed the attention of our musically inclined, while football and basket- ball were for our aspiring athletes. The great minds of our class turned to the state scholar- ship tests and won many high honors. The really triumphal occasion came with our very successful presentation of our fresh- man play, Tom Sawyer, on Class Night. An appropriate and exciting ending for our eventful freshman year was the Freshman Party. H ln the fall of 1938 we arrogantly ascended the steps of Columbian High School. How- ever, much to our amazement, we found we were not supreme as we had been the year before but were only thought of as being very green, if we were thought of at all. Humbled but. not downed under these reproaches, we organized our class. Our first class officers were: President ........,. ...............,....,.,... D oyle Nutter Secretary .......,.......,..,................. Alice Myers Vice-President ...,,....i...........,., Iohn Houck Treasurer .,..,..,.......... Marjorie McDonald We chose as our motto, Success is Our Goal , our flower, the yellow roseg and our colors, blue and silver. We were well represented in all activities, including scholarship. Two of our members succeeded in making the varsity basketball team, and two wrangled on varsity football. The overwhelming event of the year was our glorious and ever memorable Sophomore Prom. We returned to school in September l939 to become the juniors of Co- lumbian High. After finding our places again in the activities, we found time to organize our class. We elected: President ......,.........,..,................ Bill Sheeley Secretary ............. ,.,. ....... L o ribel Raymond Vice-President ............,....,.., Bob McC1ory Treasurer .........................,..,.......... Bob Haines Many of our members traveled to Bowling Green and placed high in scholastic tests. We were also well represented in all athletics, as well as in dramatics and music.
