Her breadth of vision and keen foresight to the needs of nursing have been justly recognized when, on June 7, 1948, President Roswell Gray Ham, in behalf of the Trustees of Mount Holyoke College, awarded her the honor- ary degree of Doctor of Science, For broad service to your fellow men and women, for rich teaching and undeviating pursuit of science and learning. It is indeed a real privilege to dedicate the Starch and Stripes of 1950 to Miss Conrad. We hereby pay tribute to her for outstanding achievements and fine leadership and will endeavor to fulfill the ideal that she has set for each of us in our chosen profession.

FLORENCE M. JOHNSON Miss Florence M. Johnson, retired director of the New York Chapter of the American Red Cross and now a special representative of the American Nurses ' Association to extend hospitality to nurses of all nations, has devoted her entire life to others and to her profession. Natural graciousness, enthusiasm, kindness, generosity and a depth of feeling for nurses and nursing describe the best loved nurse in New York . The Class of 1950 is grateful and proud to acknowledge Miss Johnson as our honorary member. We admire the true devotion she has shown to her profession.
