' No man has been a better or truer friend and ad- viser to the undergraduate in trouble or to- the struggling young graduate striving to establish a foothold in his chosen profession, than he. Wfith one accord, whenever they are in need of counsel or assistance, they turn to him, knowing that they will find in him a sympathetic and helpful friend. Always modest and unassuming, and never one to push himself more unsellishly or more devoteclly to his Alma Mater, and his example of un- tiring zeal in her service is one which every Columbia man may very well follow. l gladly welcome this opportunity to join with you in doing him honor.
