Yours was the first Class to enter the University after I had assumed the duties of Dean, and I like to feel that you and I entered as Freshmen together, and that we have had many a common bond between us. VVe have had our successes and our failures, our times of elation and our moments of discouragement, in our efforts to accommodate ourselves to our new environment and to accomplish, to the best of our ability, the tasks which have been set before us. If you and I have tried, and shall con- tinue to try, earnestly to live up to all that Columbia stands for, we need have no fear of the outcome.
