To the Class of 1962 During the many years ol my attendance as a member of the instructional staff at the Commencement Exercises, I have come away from each with a feeling of intense satisfaction, based on a sense of accomplishment. This should not be construed as mere complacency. I have watched each of you grow from the callow Freshman to a mature and seasoned Senior. Some of you encountered difficulty: part ol my responsibility was to seek some way of guiding you back to the road that led to Commencement. Commencement is the word that is used to designate the riles attending successful completion of academic requirements for the degree. This is a meaningful word, for this graduation is not the end. but the beginning of your venture into the -activities which are characteristic of your career goals. Are you truly prepared to cope with the responsibilities, as well as the rights and privileges, which are yours by virtue of the award of a diploma? I think so— and I do so with a feeling of quiet pride in the product which is leaving us — meaning each one of you. I look forward to your successful accomplishments as truly professional men and women, making your mark as vital personalities in a society which needs the kind of leadership of which you are capable. I trust that you will continue to grow and develop your abilities. I hope that I will have the opportunity to greet you all on many occasions: please keep in touch with us. I extend to you all my personal best wishes for continued success in whatever field of endeavor you enter, and that you find satisfaction and happiness in the work of your hands. Samuel S.
