AUGUST A. DISOMMA Augie Description — Professor DiSomma is an independent individual of high princi- ples who rarely takes any guff from his students. He is rarely seen without his partner Aldehyde Jacobs. His many attributes include an unfailing sense of humor and a continuing desire to instil in his students the credo, Honesty is the best policy. Assay — One bottle of warm Pepsi, one cold organic lab. and pressure from a class of students yields one generous, rarely annoyed individual who also takes upon himself the instruction of ethics to his charges. STAUD Maggie Description — A person of small stature, friendly smile and willingness to give assistance to any student asking for it. POKORNY Mr. Ginko, Cork Description — You might indicate that Professor Pokorny will be remembered by the Class of ' 61 for his unique combination of grab bag pharmaconosy practicals and for his travel-guide programs which result from his many field trips. Assay — One watermelon lover plus Drs. Youngken Sr. and Jr. yield one slide for Botony and Pharmacognosy lecture. Incompatibilities — Plants and watermelon seeds. Category — Pharmacognosticai aid. ABRAHAM TAUB Abie-Babie Description — A quiet, reserved, ever-smiling individual who is rarely seen before one attains the senior year. This gentleman is CUCP ' s contribution to Who ' s Who in America. Professor Taub is well known for his great skill on the dance floor and can be seen at most of the school ' s social functions. Assay — One volume sample plus two volumes water and collect two volumes of distillate then determine specific gravity by means of a Westphal balance and one finds a specific gravity of 0.8011. Incompatibilities — S hour Fridays. Category — Volatile solvent. MICHAEL M. CLAY Bentonite Description — A person who seems determined that every student at CUCP have first-hand experience in reading illegible script — on prescriptions of course. Professor Clay has often amused the class with his quick wit and ability to get along without using the blackboard eraser but merely writing in corners and blocking off odd shaped boundaries. Assay — Anyone want to run a 26 mile dash with me? Incompatibilities — Anything blue, cigarettes. Category — Pharmacology.

BARRY H. DASH Barry ill be well remembered not only for his fine lectures his jokes, his laugh and his extensive extracurricular Description — Dr. Dash in pharmacy but also fo experiences. Assay — On trituration yields one T.T. mold, one avid suppository-roller and state board finals. As an absolute dictator of the dispensing lab. he ruled with an iron pestle. Incompatibilities — Egg salad with ketchup; obvious cheating. Category — Pharmaceutical necessity. JOSEPH L. KANIG Joe Description — Who will ever forget Professor Kanig ' s fine lectures on phar- maceutical preparations? Cosmetics have never been discussed and if you don ' t believe it, ask Professor Kanig. Assay — Upon surface activation in an aerosol container Professor Kanig is a staunch believer in HLB. He has occasionally yielded a smile but only occa- sionally. He will always be remembered as a man whose wife is a constant user of hand creams, body creams, cold creams, face creams, hormone creams, wrinkle creams and sour cream. Incompatibilities — Cosmetics and the Class of ' 61. Category — Aerosol, surfactant. ROGER MANTSA VINOS Roger Description — One of the best liked faculty members, according to the Class of ' 61. Dr. Mantsavinos had the gift of humor plus an uncanny means of trans- mitting subject matter to his students. We will be the wiser for having him transform many subjects which previously were confusing into live and under- standable knowledge. Assay — One biochemistry lecture plus one shopping list and one laundry list intertwined in the lecture yields one pleasant and highly respected individual. Incompatibilities — Cough drops, soda-jerk pharmacists. Category — Antitussive. 12
