CR Track Both the boys ' and the girls ' teams had great seasons this year. The boys ' track team were the 1982 League Champs with a perfect 5-0 record. CR has not been beaten in the league in the past five years. The team placed second in District competi- tion. Outstanding athletes were Sean Elkinton, who won the State javelin throw, and was rank- ed 3 in the nation; and Frank Barcelona, who ran the fastest time ever (9:14.4) by a sophomore in a state meet in the 3200 meters. Special awards went to: Tim Wyche, Honorary Captain; Sean Elkinton, Most Valuable; and Charlie McKay and Frank Barcelon, Most Improved. The girls ' team claimed both the league and District Championships, with an undefeated 4-0 league record. 12 girls qualified for the State Meet in Tacoma, including Tracy McCarthey who was the state javelin champ. Other placements in the state competition were Dar- cy Johnston, 7th in the shot put, and Missi Dynes, 9th in the long jump. Patti Kent was voted Team Captain, Cindy Harvey received the Most Improved award, and Darcy Johnston was named Most Inspirational.
