Girl Tumblers 3rd in League The 1981-82 girls ' gymnastics team did ex- ceptionally well this year being a relatively young team. The girls ' placed third in the league with the toughest competition coming from Evergreen and Hudson Bay. Columbia River took third place in sub-district at Evergreen High School. Placing among the top two teams at district which was held at Prairie. Kristin Justik, Jenny Hansen and Michelle Reed were among the individuals who placed at district. Robin Starr tied for second in the all- around division. Robin, the team ' s only senior, advanced from district to state which was held in Bellevue Washington at Sammamish High School. She did well at state, Placing 25th all-around. Coach Nola Graves stated, We have a very talented enthusiastic and hard working group of girls. I enjoy working with them very much. We hope to develop our skills, and take the district trophy in 83. An awards banquet was held on Friday, March 12th at Paola ' s Pizza Barn. Awards were presented to sophomore Karen Brown, most inspirational and Junior Leslie Wallace and Sophomore Kristin Justik tied for most improved. Leslie Wallace won most improved, a much deserved award. Boys ' Qwimming The 1981-82 boys ' swim team this year did a good job. They stood at 2 wins and 3 losses. The team member that performed the best was Captain Gary Bristow. His best time in the 50 yard freestyle was 22.46 seconds, which made him a state qualifier. The most improved was Alan Halleck; most inspirational, Mike Timmins; and most dedicated was Mike Boehlke.
