Girls ' 9wimming This year the Columbia River Girls ' swim team had a fairly good season with a three- win, three-loss record. The team consisted of eleven hardworking and enthusiastic swim- mers, ten of which qualified to participate in the regional meet at The Evergreen State College on November 14, 1981. Coaching for his fifth winning season was Mr. Tim Hegedus. Coach Hegedus commented that the girls ' victory over Hudson ' s Bay was definitely the highlight of the season. The gals dove warily into the meet with two con- secutive defeats behind them and only nine of the eleven girls competing against Hud- son ' s Bay ' s seventeen. Nevertheless, they emerged victorious. This was the turning point of the season. The awards banquet was held on December 21, 1981, at Paola ' s Pizza Barn. Awards were given to: Karen Brown, most inspirational; Dana Gjelde, most improved; and Sandy Gustafsonmost dedicated and team captain. Drama November 19, 20, 21 the CRHS drama class presented, The Curious Savage. The play concerns the efforts of an old lady to use her inheritance for a good cause, and the attempts of her greedy stepchildren to get the money for themselves. Hoping to force Mrs. Savage to give up her inheritance, the stepchildren commit her to a sanitorium. After outwitting the stepchildren, she is persuaded to leave the sanitorium and manage her money as a trust fund for unfortunates. The cast: Tammy Morin, Don Johnson, Carol Camp, Ken Boxberger, Kelly Underwood, Vickie Newbill, Tami Tibbs, Michelle Sanders, Jeff Seastone, Lori Kramer, Doni Manning, Matthew Gillingham, Colby Bledsoe, Jeff Morin. Doni Manning argues with Jeff Seastone and Tami Tibbs about her money. Michelle Sanders poses as she visits her mother.
