Asst. Principal JAMES H. RUST Seniors: For twelve years you have looked forward to your graduation-to your commencement. For some of you it is the completion of your formal education. For others it is the stepping stone to higher learning. For all of you it is the beginning of your life's work. Columbia High School has endeavored to share with the home, the Church and the commrmity, the re- sponsibility of meeting the educational needs of the boys and girls of our school. We have tried to prepare you mentally, morally, physically, socially, and emotionally to face a complex and changing world and to be well equipped to serve mankind. I believe that as you reap the harvest of what you have sown in Columbia High School, you will find an abundance which you can share with your fellow-man. May God bless you as you go out into the world. N James H. Rust Principal HARRY W. SMOKER Class of 1957: It is with a feeling of mixed emotions that I bid you farewell, On the one hand I am happy to see you achieve the goal for which you have worked for the past twelve years. On the other hand, I realize that the end of this term means the end of our association as partners in an educational experience. As I contemplate your entrance into business, pro- fessional, and higher academic fields, I feel impelled to remind you that success is still reserved for those who work diligently and honestly at a given task. I like to think that your experiences here at Columbia High School have, in some way, prepared you to meet successfully the many experiences that you will en- counter as you experience the day to day living with your fellow men. It has been a privilege, indeed, to have the oppor- tunity of working with you. May I wish you good fortune and much happiness as you confidently face whatever the future has in store for you. Sincerely, Harry W. Smoker, Principal
