PAST PERFORMANCES Freshmen' How grown up we thought it sounded' We were only the small concession stand operators on the Midway but at long last we were part of the show In those by gone days we were shy and quiet fthe teachers seem to think weve changedj Smce we were so small and mconspicuous we Call 125 of usj envied the Seniors Little did we realize how soon we would have that envied position Looking back on our Freshman year we recall the beginning of guidance classes largest marching band in the schools history Iowa tests which determmed our achievements laughing at Mother Is a Freshman a hard fighting football team that came out on the long end of the count only three times the Liberty Ball our first professional assembly the Lenaros Sweet hearts of Melody a basketball team that won ten and lost eight Kuder preference tests to denote our aptltudes Rose of the Danube new faculty members Mr Donan Mr Lampman and Miss Searight electing Jack Yohe president Frank Barton vice president Sue McNeal secretary and Fred Dmkel treasurer our classmates in activities the Freshman Sophomore Party on St Patricks Day when the Sophomores decided they could stand us for one evening final exams And then Sophomores' 'l Promoted from the concession stands we were conducting the side shows this year We had lost our shyness for living up to the Sophomore tradition we were very sophisticated and worldly wise fthe teachers have another word for it smart I thmk they usej Even though we were so matureQ9j we still longed for the social status of the Semors It never dawned on us that we only had two years to wait Thinking of our Sophomore year brings to mind an enrollment of 122 the first Homecoming Game with the 1926 football team as guests Seven teenth Summer presented by the Dramatic Club student government mstl tuted at C H S a strugglmg football team that hit the win column only Normandy the 10 8 record of our basketball team the odd noises which originated in the library biology write up reelection of Jack Yohe, presi dent Frank Barton vice president Sue McNeal secretary and election of a new treasurer Donald Bartch Mr Kreiser and Mr Bender joining the teach ing staff the fun of picking hats pennants and class rmgs playing host to the Southern District Chorus the Freshman Sophomore Party when we left our hair down and mmgled socially with the Freshmen final exams and our high school career half over Imagine' Us upperclassmen' ' ' At last we were under the Big Top As seasoned troupers we could look down our noses at the youngsters going appre hensively through the halls Every wrong move we made the teachers re mmded us of the fact that we were now Juniors and good behavior was expected of us fwe thought otherwise as teachers soon found outj We still desired the prestige of the Semors but were content with the thought of only one year b tween us and them Memories of our junior year mclude Varsity C Club mitiations Commer cial Department swimming party a 6-4 record that made us proud of our football team the Glee Club s trip to the Ice Follies the start of a Junior bowlmg league drivers trammg with the man possessing iron nerves Mr Wmdmuller wearmg our sharp looking class rmgs for the first time Y Teens basketball season which ended with seven wins and eleven losses bemg recorded m the books the Y Teen formal with its South Pacific theme the Elmwood after the dances new class officers Frank Barton president Ken Schuler vice president jmny Liddle secretary and Glenda 16 , - . , . . .
