Prophecy As we check the place cards and seating arrange- ments, we are carried back into the past. No one would have ever dared to suggest that the world would be so changed in just ten years. Why, when we were planning to have a class reunion during this year of 1976, no one ever dreamed of the satellite night club, The Tornado, much less that the setting for our reunion would be just that, But as we, Fleedie Cahoon and Joyce Rhodes, check the final details in the decorations and program, we can't help but reminisce about our days at Columbia School, the little town of Columbia, and our old class- mates who we will be seeing in just a short time now, As we check our seating list, Allen Brickhouse is the name that we see first. Oh, yes, he succeeded in be- coming a school teacher! Imagine Allen being the only male at the fashionable girls' school, Rockette Hall! Another one of our classmates who has become a fashion designer, Loretta Midgett, has received much publicity recently, Her latest creation, ''Doo-Drop-Inn has caused a complete revolution in the fashion world. Her star model, Diane Armstrong, plans to model this fabulous dress for her classmates tonight at the reunion, Marsha Brickhouse is next on our list. She was selected as the wittiest girl in our class, and portions of her wit have been carried over into her work as a soci- ologist. Marsha's latest client asked her to recommend a romantic replacement for the moon in the life of young lovers. Any ideas about the moon as a symbol of romance are now considered old fashioned! Marsha is not the only one who is confronted with such 'enormous!! problems! Frieda Voliva, all dressed in white from head to toe, finally became a registered nurse. She has learned all the remedies for the cure of many illnesses, but she hasn't quite mastered the remedy for a broken heart! That doctor in the little white coat just can't seem to find the time to teach her, Sandra Brickhouse, the owner of 'The Tomado ' said that we would be surprised at the number of people who are over-powered by the atmosphere at the night club. Actually, instead of the atmosphere it's probably the rich food. Wanda Brickhouse, 'The Tornado's!' chief cook, strongly believes in garnishing her dishes with a liberal sprinkling of stardust or a few sprigs of moongloo! Poor Leamon Cooper is on a very strict diet and won't be able to enjoy many of the famous dishes that The Tornado offers, That's Tight, he must watch his weight! After all, he's the world champion heavyweight boxer. It did take everyone a little! by surprise when Clay was downed within a minute during the fight in which Leamon gained his title, Robert Deaver is Leamon!s manager. It seems that Leamon is always getting him- self in a jam and it takes Robert's fast talking to get him out. Another of Leamon's close associates is Gene Cooper, Gene hangs around the big pool halls collecting the latest tidbits of information about Leamon's opponents, Another of our classmates has gained wide recogni- tion as an actor, Michael Ethridge has become another Richard Burton. His own Liz is none other than another classmate, Carol McClees. The Beatles are now a thing of the past. It seems that Dallas Simmons, Wayne Smith, Eddie Spencer, and Lawrence Swain have captured the hearts of all the young girls with their latest recording, Come Along to Pluto and Play Eskimo With Me. Evidently Eddie still likes ice cubes! Without a doubt, Cindy Simmons, the hairstylist, is chilled when she hears our singing stars! newest song, But, another classmate, Sarah Spencer has advised Cindy not to cry. However, Laura Taylor seems to think that the place to melt the ice is at the home of a Justice of the Peace. Milton Kidd always was silent whenever anyone wanted him to speak during our school days. Well, now he's living like a hermit; however, he's making good use of his time. He has written a best-seller, Another Look at Whitman and Thoreau. As we continue down the list to Willene Cuthrell's name, our thoughts are channeled in another direction, Willene is now secretary to the owner of Greater Land and Timber Company. Lloyd Johnson, the Owner, spends most of his time in South America making sure that Larry Comstock, his foreman does the job right, One of Lloyd's old lovers, Gwen Armstrong, doesn't care for this set-up at all. It seems that she thinks that it's time that Lloyd became a little more domestically inclined, The Congress of the United States is still dazed by the warm personality of one of the new North Carolina Senators, Nancy Owens, Nancy always was a favorite with the Class of '66. Our senior adviser, Mr. Fred Davenport, and our mascots, Lelia Davenport and David Smith will also attend the reunion, Mr. Davenport is still advising the seniors at CHS, Lelia and David are now freshmen, Listen! A rocket is approaching the night club. Wonder who is piloting it? Just look at those bars and stars’ painted on the nose cone! Ricky Swain must be the pilot, because no one else in our class could possibly still find time to feud with our ancestors! As we rush out to welcome our classmates as they descend from the rocket, we put our memories aside until another time, Class Prophetesses: Joyce Rhodes Fleedie Cahoon Te ee ee : : : 4
