History As we, the Seniors of 1966, are on the brink ofa new life, we like to pause and look back to the yester- days at Columbia High School, days that will always be very close to our hearts. Our years in the primary and elementary grades were important, because our educational foundation was being laid. We had good teachers; we learned much; and there were many, many happy days. We entered high school with Mrs, Mary Ann Combs and Mr. Adrian Ayers as our homeroom teachers. The looks from the upperclassmen, the rushing from class to class, and the new schedule are all a part of our mem- ories of our first year in high school. In our sophomore year, our homeroom teachers were Mrs. Madge Van Horn and Mr. John Griffin. By now we were accustomed to high school life. We had a good year and were increasing in knowledge. As Juniors, our homeroom teacher again was Mrs. Van Horn. We worked harder in our studies, and we were enjoying the role of upperclassmen. The class conducted a magazine campaign, which was profitable and lots of fun. One of the highlights of the year was our Junior- Senior Prom, which carried out the theme Stairway to Dreamland. It was a very happy occasion. Another pleasant event was the arrival of our class rings. Finally the long-awaited year came. We were Seniors. Our homeroom teacher was Mr. Fred Davenport, who helped us with the 1966 COLUMBIAN and our plans for graduation. We looked forward to a good year in our studies, the many social activities, and finally to our graduation in June, 1966. We wish to express our thanks and appreciation to parents and teachers for their guidance and support during our years at Columbia High School. Class Historians: Carol McClees Marsha Brickhouse
