So ph For Homes Sophomore’ Class e Sophomore Class ore Class There are many kinds of homes in Tyrrell County: new and old, large and small, modern and traditional. Many of the homes of Tyrrell citizens have been under family own- ership for generations. Muchsentiment is often attached to the family homestead. The older homes of a community demand respect and admiration. One such homme is! thie jG; McClees Home. Con- sidered old by the senior citizens in 1875, this residence is considered to be the oldest home in Columbia. Although the home was renovated in 1939, much of the original charm of a by- gone era remains. An interesting architec- tural feature of the house is that pegs were used instead of nails to secure the timbers used in its construction.
