As lam packing some books to take with me, I come across my 1962 COLUMBIAN, I open it to the Senior Class pictures and reminisce about the good times we had in high school. As I view each individual face I ponder upon the path each has traveled since 1962, i There is J, D. BRICKHOUSE, owner and editor of the ALBEMARLE TRIBUNE; a paper that brings us the news hot off the wires. FREDDIE MITCHELL is a well known dentist and was recently the mainspeaker at the American Dental Association Convention in Chicago. He was accompanied by his very efficient nurse, GLORIA WALKER, Every now and then I read something about JACKIE SMITH, who is out in Hollywood making pictures. She is always acting the part of someone's sweetheart. I guess she liked being the F.F.A. Sweetheart so much, she decided to make a career of it. A few days ago, all the newspapers carried a front-page article with 2-inch headlines, PEACE— ACHIEVED AT LAST! The papers said that the United Nations, through the efforts of the two-person Secretary-General had finally achieved peace. Itseems MARY RUTH WOODLEY and DANA DAVENPORT, who hold this important position, packed more TNT than Khrushchey's 50-megaton bomb. When they took over this office, all of the diplomats melted in their tracks, and now Mary Ruth and Dana run the U.N. Lieutenant LARRY COOPER of the New York Police Force was recently commended for his capable handling of a series of robberies. DAVID COOPER of the F.B.I. was called in to track down a couple of the robbers. HERBERT BRICKHOUSE is now manager of the New York Yankees; CHARLES BASNIGHT and ALLEN SWAIN are the star players. Charles recently pitched six consecutive no-hitters and Allen has beendoing some marvelous catching. Here is handsome HAL COHOON, our class president. Hal has carved out a brilliant career for himself as the lawyer who never loses a case. He is our very own Perry Mason. As I look at MAE L, WILLIAMS, I think of the visit I had with her the other day. I was passing through Fairfield and stopped to speak to her. She is a happy wife and the proud mother of three boys. There is BRIAN HOPKINS and JOSEPH LIVERMAN, who have become competitive farmers in Tyrrell County. One is trying to outdo the other in acquiring farm land. Brian-owns all of Riverneck and most of Sound Side. Joseph owns all of the farm land in Gum Neck, so you see they are really competing with each other. Ah! SHARRON BERRY, the short girl with the big smile. She has become a laboratory technician, and was recently awarded the Nobel Prize for her great achievement in producing a pill that will make short girls tall. She calls it the tall-pill. This brings to mind petite NANCY HASSELL. She is personal physician to the President of the United States, who is none other than our own DOTTIE PRITCHETT. Dottie is the first woman ever to be presi-— dent of our great nation. She also has her own persona! beautician, BETTY BAREFIELD. Betty may fool the rest of the world, but I bet she isn't there just to keep Dottie well-groomed. She is there looking for an unattached Congressman or Senator. I hope Dottie is getting all the help she needs from EDWARD DAVIS. I'm still wondering how he got to be Vice-President with his grades. Some little bird must have told him the secret to success. And here is my good friend and cousin, KEITH WEATHERLY. He once said his ambition in life was girls, girls, girls. His ambition has been fulfilled. There was one he finally didn't get away from. Today, they are the proud parents of nine lovely daughters. At any rate, he has plenty of help in his large hard- ware store. I look at ALAN BASNIGHT and think, What a clown he was! He has gone right on being a clown, too. He is with Ringling Brothers! Circus, and they say Emmett Kelly was never better. RONNIE GRIMSLEY is also with Ringling Brothers. He decided if he must Carry around so much weight, why not cash in on it. So, the more he weighs, the more it pays. ANN CLOUGH, who has been teaching Home Economics at C.H.S., wasrecently named the outstand- ae teacher in North Carolina. She is giving up her teaching career to become the head of General Mills, cr My gaze falls on the picture of HOPE MORRIS...Oh my!! Iam supposed to meet her in 30 minutes! She is going with me to the Kremlin, where she will teach Christian Education, a very rewarding work she has been doing since she graduated from Free Will Baptist Bible College in 1966. Our plane leaves Columbia International Airport in just one hour! I'll never finish this packing in time!
