As I take off dn my new 1970 Cadillac Super-Sonic Rocket on my trip from the parking lot in my old home town, Columbia, North Carolina, to my winter resort on the moon, the sight of the old school building brings back memories of my classmates. a About halfway to the moon, I see a round, spiked object coming toward me. As it hurtles past, I see a familiar tae ] read in the newspapers that the United States has sent up a human in a satellite, and I laughed when I read that that hu- man was MORRIS PRITCHETT. He is scheduled to land today, so evidently he is on his way down. As I settle down for the rest of the ride, I pick up a movie magazine. As I read the gossip column, Under Mozella's Hat, I see what MOZELLA BRICKHOUSE has to say about the latest stars. : CARL RAY ALEXANDER, or Speed-Along Satellite, as he is now known, is the latest craze in the cowboy world, In- stead of a horse, Speed-Along has a jet-mobile. PAT BRICKHOUSE, or Tex Orbit, as he is known, is Speed-Along's side- oe SNELL is 2 rocket driver. She drives the 9:05 Moon Special every day. She didn't have to take any special training to be a driver, The Company said she had had enough training on her old Gum Neck bus route. MADGE:MORRIS is over in Africa now. She is a missionary. Last year when she came back to the United States for the first time in ten years, she brought back with her a cannibal named Friday. Friday is Madge's right-hand man, CARL DAVIS is over there with Madge. He is her left-hand man, He paddles her canoe up and down the Congo; sort of a per sonal chauffeur. MINNIE LOU HOPKINS is the Editor of one of America's leading magazines, 100 Effective Diets. SELDON BRICKHOUSE is a door-to-door Band-Aid salesman, Those Band-Aids come in handy, especially when people slam doors on his fingers. : BOBBY FURLOUGH is playing professional football for the Washington Redskins. The stadium is located on the moon. Bobby jumped to throw a pass and went into orbit. They had a time trying to get him down. ALMA LEE DAVENPORT is now a big Rock 'n' Roll singer. The critics have said that she's a female Elvis Presley. Of course, she's changed her name. She's now called Avis Parsley. LOUISE HASSELL is her guitarist. They make a greatteam, DAVID COHOON is a big-time plantation owner. He's just bought all of Gum Neck, He's trying to train mosquitoes not to bite, just to bark. He says that they make wonderful watchdogs. I hear he's trying to buy all of Kilkenny for more watchdogs. JIMMY SPENCER is making movies now. His most recent movie was one of those blood-freezing horror moyies called, The Purple-People-Eater Burps Again. He had a TV show last year, called Public Vampire Number One, but no one would watch it. They were chicken! PAT COHOON is making her million in the modeling business. She models for Eighteen, the teen-agers' fashion magazine. She also poses for cigaret ads, automobile ads, and used-rocket ads. Her picture is on every billboard from planet to planet. LYNDA FAYE DAVIS is quite a big-name out in Texas. She has the second largest ranch in the world. Every year, she competes with the top cowboys at the National Rodeo at Madison Square Garden. This past year, she was named Miss Cowpoke of 1970. She can ride those bucking bronchos to a standstill. CHESTER COOPER has a new TV show called Drag Your Own Net. He plays Sergeant Thursday. All the kids are watching Chester instead of Mickey Mouse. PAT SPENCER is a Hell-Driver. She always drives in those races that have hair-pin curves. So far, she's made them all. She doesn't always win, but she drives a hard race. ANNA JO EVERTON decided she liked Gum Neck so well, that she thought she would move down there. There's only one drawback: every time she goes down there, David Cohoon'swatchdog mosquitoes attack her. If she ever gets past those mosquitoes, she'll have it made. GLORIA FAYE HOPKINS is in the WACs. A few months ago, she was made a Four-Star General. She's really tough on her girls, I hear. | BILL DAVENPORT is a Jet Pilot in the Air Force. He was the first man éver to fly over the South Pole upside-down. JOE CRADDOCK is a singer on the Grand Old Opery. He has been offered several movie contracts, but so far, has turned them all down, In his spare time, Joe invents new farming implements, His latest is a potato digger and grader combined, They have been selling like wild-fire. ‘ DORA WARD and WANDA WOODLEY are co-owners of the new railroad that's just been put into Columbia. The first day that the train came to Columbia, there was a huge crowd at the depot. Dora ledthe crowd in singing I've Been Working On The Railroad, while Wanda played the piano. CARY COHOON owns and operates the world-famous Cohoon Beach. There are Sights to be seen there. It's a regular circus! SALLY SIMMONS is the wild animal trainer, While Sally isn't training animals, she is a lady patrolman. She keeps those wild Columbia drivers hopping. KAY MELSON is a movie producer and director, Her most famous movie was 'Snow White and the Seven-Ups, filmed in Technicola. She tried to get Jimmy Spencer to play as one of the Seven-Ups, but the role wasn't big enough to suithim, it seems. Well, we're pulling into the speedway at my winter resort. I'll go in and think some more of my classmates and of days gone by at CHS,
