CLASS POEM In August of 1943, Our ship of learning started. We left our home that fateful day From babyhood we parted. We passed that goal and set our course. The most important was ahead. We had our storms and then our calms. We followed where our leaders led. Our captain bade us step aboard. We came with deep despair. But then the calm and quiet voice Soon took away our fear. For eight long years we traveled on A goal in sight. We set our sail. We had a dream, a hope, a prayer. To enter High, we would not fail. ’ We lost a few--a few had faltered, But we were strong--We faced the sun Land was in sight; a harbor beckoned. ' We were safe--The victory won. Our journey is over--The task is through Our ties we now must sever. We ' ve landed on the long sought shore. It s time to leave the ship forever. As we debark to meet our fate, Our flags unfurled, our banners high Forward ever; Backward never. We ' ll raise our motto to the sky.
