Lacrosse Columbia again proved to be a dominant force in the 1980 season. Under the coaching of Bob Curcio, the Cougars outscored all opponents 169-78 in goals. They thus ended the season, ranking fourth in the state with a 13-4 record. New Jersey's Player of the Year and an All- American selection. Rich Clancy led Columbia's awesome attacks, joe Perez, Paul Amerman, and Peter Strauss were doing the ball-handling. All- American Ed Lewis, Don Richardson, and Don Ward were the undaunted defense which kept the ball away from the Columbia goal mouth. Although the state title eluded the Cougars, the CHS laxmen can boast of an array of individual awards unmatched by any other team in the state: the New Jersey Player of the Year, two All- Americans, and eight All-State selections. 20 Peter Strauss battles it out with the opponent.
