The passage of months since the tragic day, November 22, has deepened the appreciation of the American people for their thirty-fifth President. He had proven a constant source of pride, strength, and ad- miration. He represented a new type of political figure —not a man who found it necessary to ingratiate him- self to win support, but one who attracted adherents by inspiring confidence through his breadth of learn- ing. He offered more than political'' experience. His keen intellect combined with his decisiveness won for the nation, world respect. He was our youngest elected President; yet, tempered by learning, he had a perspec- tive which many gain only from long and trying ex- perience. Indeed, the greatest sorrow to the nation is that a longer life might have seen the fruition of his hopes and plans to the enrichment of America and the world. His great achievements indicate the potential power of those of our generation who, like him, strive for knowledge and are determined to aid the progress of mankind. With the hope that his unigue guality as man and statesman will serve to inspire us, we dedicate the 1964 Mirror to the memory of John F. Kennedy.
