Oh, here's Carolyn Blocker. She wrote that new hook with Betty Firth, called Impressions in a Beauty Parlor. She was inspired hy that scintillating salon run hy Edna Okncr and Audrey Harris you know, the one where they have Terry Thompson musically entertaining with her low bass voice and her cello (we’re only kidding, Terrvl, with gComic interludes by Joint Dakis. They've got Marilyn Cupp and Barbara Grove and Jean MacDonald madly throwing mud-paeks at Irene Thompson. (Yes, my dear, positively!) It says Sally Whitney and Norma Bcrquist make two special trips there each week just to read the latest copies of Jane Dent’s new weekly joke hooks, llm-m-m! “And here's Jay ciss’s name—lie’s editing the New York Times with the able assistance of Boh Stansberry. Jay’s name has been quite prominent lately. It says lie’s been collaborating on some gigantic new variety show with Boh lleydt Time and A Quarter. George Somers and Chubby Clial- kcr and Cubby Feindt put on a special Russian Page Twenty-eight extravaganza for it. too. Oh, and here it says that Jean Bolilcn writes an Advice to the Lovelorn column—imagine that! Oh, and here’s Chuck Baldwin who’s featured in all the newspapers now. He flew to Mars on a daredevil rocket-ship journey with Sammy Vitt and Tom Smith, and they found Tims. illiams, of all people, waiting there for them! Someone else who’s quite prominent in print now is Skippy Kemp. He poses for the Arrow Shirt ads, with Gayle V bite fondly tying his tic. Diane also manages a theatrical agency in Iter spare time. And about Jane Kull’s pitching for the New York Y ankees with Catherine Neimitz playing catcher! (And may we add they had a very successful season.) And here’s a column on Jane Gcisscle. the sensational tight-rope walker, with her long flowing black hair cut short enough so she won't trip over it! “'Phc well-known Betty Griflingor and Patty Gil- bertson (the beautiful president of the Aquarium, who admires all things nautical and is connected with the Navy), it says, are holding New Yoork audiences enthralled with their amazing juggling act: and Carol Kasen, the successful snake charmer (with an eye out for our Foreign Policy), is enter- taining at the Circus. Joan Rottelli is said to have a double trapeze act with Eddie Ortzen; and Cheryl Cassidy, the comedienne, is an added attraction. “Oh, and here's an article about Margot Trimble (former President of Vassal ) and Etna Schneider (former President of W ellesley), who for the sake of humanity, together with Retty Monk and Pat Goldin, have founded a girls' boarding school in the interior of Tibet; and it tells here how Rud Wolfcrt and Claire Van Orden are talent scouts looking for prospective students in the heart of the Rclgian Congo. And here’s something about Joan Conkling. the feminine F. P. Adams, stump- ing the Board of Experts on Information Please. (Roard consisting of Mary Carlaw, expert in field of science, and John Sodoma, expert in field of sports—a very enlightened combination, to say the least!)
